The lawyer representing Brian Laundrie's parents called a civil lawsuit filed by Gabby Petito's parents "baseless and frivolous" and demanded that the courts dismiss the case with prejudice.

Gabby Petito's parents are seeking at least $30,000 in damages from Christopher and Roberta Laundrie for what they describe as "extreme and outrageous conduct."

Brian Laundrie, the boyfriend of murdered woman Gabby Petito, was discovered in a gator-infested reserve not far from his Florida home.

Brian Laundrie had been indicted for an unauthorized use of Gabby Petito's debit card after her murder.

Police in Moab, Utah stopped Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie weeks before she disappeared after a witness reported seeing him hit her. 

"They are incredible,” Nichole Schmidt said of people who spent countless hours on her daughter’s case from their computer screens at home. “The sleuths, the internet sleuths, they do a great job. They really do.”

For more than a week, investigators and internet detectives tried to figure out what happened to 22-year-old Gabby Petito before her body was found in Grand Teton National Park on Sept. 19.
