Florida Teacher Arrested After Allegedly Telling Party She Performed Oral Sex On Teen
"You can imagine that she wasn't too pleased," the sheriff said of the victim's mother learning about the alleged incident.
A Florida middle school teacher is accused of performing oral sex on a 15-year-old boy during a family graduation party — with police arresting her after she allegedly told partygoers about it.
Leslie Bushart, 49, was attending a graduation party for the victim's older sister on June 6 when the alleged assault took place, according to a press release from the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
Bushart allegedly told investigators that she and the teenager had walked away from the party crowd together and she attempted to smoke marijuana with him. She was unable to light a joint on account of being drunk, so she began performing oral sex on the 15-year-old, the press released stated.
After the two rejoined the party, Bushart allegedly told a guest about the incident.
"Bushart told another person at that party that she had just performed oral sex on the teenage victim. That person then informed the mother of the victim," the release said.
The teen's mother confronted Bushart who quickly left the party afterward. The teacher then reached out to the alleged victim's mother via Facebook and tried to "rationalize her behavior by saying she was drunk at the party," the release stated.
"You can imagine that she wasn't too pleased with that set of circumstances," Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said of the mother during a Friday press conference.
The boy’s parents notified the Polk County Sheriff's Office on June 16 and an investigation was opened, according to the sheriff's office. Bushart was arrested Thursday and is currently being held at the Polk County Jail, according to online records.
Bushart, who has been a teacher for 29 years, has been placed on administrative leave and the school district is moving forward with her termination, a representative of Polk County Public Schools told local outlet The Ledger.
