Man Allegedly Married His Adult Daughter After Helping To Kill Her Boyfriend
Larry McClure and Amanda McClure, along with another of his daughters, are accused of striking John McGuire in the head with a wine bottle, then tying him up and injecting him with methamphetamine before strangling him to death.
A West Virginia man has been accused of marrying his adult daughter and having sex with her after he helped her kill her boyfriend.
Larry Paul McClure Sr., 55, allegedly wrote a letter to authorities confessing to the murder before telling investigators where to find the body of John Thomas McGuire, 38, according to Bluefield Daily Telegraph.
McClure is now facing first-degree murder charges in McGuire’s death. His daughters, Amanda Michelle Naylor McClure, 31, and Anna Marie Choudhary, 32, are also facing murder charges in connection with the death.
Authorities believe all three knowingly concealed McGuire’s body in a shallow grave at Larry McClure’s Skygusty home, local station WOAY reports.
Amanda McClure had been the girlfriend of McGuire, who lived in Minnesota.
During a preliminary hearing for Choudhary on Nov. 5, West Virginia State Police Trooper K.M. Saddler said that all three had been a part of the alleged murder—which occurred sometime around Valentine’s Day.
“On or about February 14, Mr. John McGuire was struck in the head with a bottle of wine, then tied up, and then injected with two vials of methamphetamine,” Saddler said, according to the local paper. “After the injection, he was strangled.”
Larry McClure, a registered sex offender, allegedly made the unusual move of confessing to the crime in a letter to authorities dated Nov. 4. In the letter, McDowell provided the gruesome details of how the strangulation was carried out and what role each member of the family allegedly played.
In the letter, he claimed that McGuire’s death had been his daughter Amanda’s idea.
“I cannot tell you why Amanda wanted John McGuire dead,” he wrote before claiming that Amanda had continued to cash McGuire’s social security checks after his death.
Larry McClure said he had decided to confess because he did not want to waste “the taxpayers money” or hurt the families of those involved.
“All I can do is hope for mercy on this, but my sentence on this really does not matter because I am old and in bad health. I will never live to see the parole board in (15) years anyway and that is OK,” he allegedly wrote, according to the Bluefield Daily Telegraph.
On the letter’s final page, Larry McClure scrawled in large letters that he wanted to plead “GUILTY/NO CONTEST.”
Although Larry McClure and his daughter Amanda are biologically related the pair were also allegedly engaging in “sexual intercourse” and had sex in the same home where the body was discovered, according to court documents obtained by the paper.
Just three weeks after McGuire's death, they traveled to Virginia where they got married in the United Methodist Church. The marriage license showed that Amanda had written another name on the line that had asked for her father’s name.
Before his latest arrest on murder charges, Larry McClure spent 17 and a half years in prison after being convicted of first-degree sexual assault in July 1998, The Bluefield Daily Telegraph reported. His alleged victim had reportedly been a female between the ages of 6 and 12.
