Disney Star Kyle Massey Charged For Allegedly Sending Explicit Material To 13-Year-Old Girl
Kyle Massey allegedly sent pornographic messages to an eighth-grader after she expressed an interested in getting a role in a “Cory in the House" reboot.
Disney star Kyle Massey reportedly has been charged with a felony for allegedly sending pornography to a 13-year-old girl.
The 29-year-old actor was charged on June 14 with one count of immoral communication with a minor in King County, Wash., NBC News reported, citing court documents.
The disturbing allegations are nothing new. The former child star, who had prominent roles in “That’s So Raven” and its spin-off “Cory in the House,” was first accused of sending explicit images, texts and videos to the girl in 2019. The child and her mother filed a lawsuit against Massey that year, seeking $1.5 million.
Massey denied the allegations via his attorney Lee A. Hutton III at the time. In a 2019 statement, obtained by People, the lawyer claimed that the child had previously tried to extort him.
“In early 2019, Plaintiff’s attorneys demanded $1.5M threatening to go public to destroy my career if I did not comply,” the statement read. “My family and I rejected this extortion attempt because I have faith that the legal process will reveal the truth.”
The lawsuit claims that the girl, whose name has not been released, met Massey when she was 4 years old. He kept in touch with her family because the family was interested in pursuing a career in entertainment for the child. The lawsuit alleged that Massey “held himself out as a father figure” to the girl, according to Variety.
In 2018, after the child expressed interest in a role for a “Cory in the House” reboot, Massey allegedly requested to be her friend on Snapchat. It was on that platform that the actor is accused of sending her “numerous sexually explicit text messages, images and videos,” according to the lawsuit. Some of those videos appear to show a man resembling Massey exposing himself, according to NBC News. Others contained explicit content. The filings allege that Massey was aware that the girl, who lives in Seattle, was in the eighth grade.
The family sued Massey for intentional infliction of emotional distress, sending harmful matter with intent of seduction of a minor, attempting to commit a lewd act with a minor, and annoying or molesting a minor.
Massey failed to show for his arraignment on Monday, resulting in a deferred bench warrant being issued, according to NBC News. Massey’s attorney has not immediately responded to Oxygen.com’s request for comment.
