Teacher Charged With Sexually Abusing Student Once Reportedly Threw Scissors At Him
The alleged abuse between the high school student and 32-year-old teacher Katrina Maxwell began last March, according to the victim.
A former high school teacher in Texas is accused of sexually abusing a student and then throwing scissors at his head when she became jealous, according to Click2Houston.
32-year-old Katrina Louisa Maxwell of Humble, Texas, is being charged with two counts of sexual assault against a child, according to court documents obtained by Oxygen.com.
The charges came after an employee from the Sheldon Independent School District alerted administrators when noting “Maxwell’s behavior with the student when she [Maxwell] saw him with his girlfriend,” according to Click2Houston.
The unnamed student is a 16-year-old male at C.E. King High School.
A second report by the same employee came when she allegedly witnessed Maxwell throw a pair of scissors at the student’s head after he sat with his girlfriend.
On June 8, administrators called for a meeting to address the accusations against Maxwell, according to ABC 13. A witness claimed that Maxwell confessed to having sex with the teenager on two occasions in her car’s back seat and that she loved him.
Maxwell allegedly told administrators “she was a good teacher,” but that now she’d only be referred to as “the teacher who f---ed her student.”
Maxwell was immediately removed from campus, and school officials notified law enforcement and child protection services.
“Sheldon ISD district administration was recently made aware of an inappropriate relationship between former Sheldon ISD teacher Mrs. Katrina Maxwell and a Sheldon ISD high school student,” the school district said in a public statement. “We find these reports to be sustained.”
The student confirmed what Maxwell is alleged to have admitted at the school district’s administrative meeting, according to ABC 13. He added that their first sexual experience came after Maxwell picked him up from his aunt’s house and drove him to a nearby hotel.
Investigators on the case say the abuse began in March of this year, according to ABC 13.
“The district’s first concern is always the safety of our students while providing a safe and secure place for students to learn,” it continued in the school district’s statement. “Sheldon ISD is deeply saddened that this occurred, and we are committed to continued cooperation with law enforcement to ensure Mrs. Maxwell is prosecuted to the fullest extent.”
Maxwell is free on bond and expected to return to court on Sept. 29.
