'Home Alone' Actor Arrested For Allegedly Strangling Girlfriend In Oklahoma Hotel
Devin Ratray, who portrayed older brother Buzz McCallister in the 'Home Alone' franchise, is accused of shoving his girlfriend onto the bed and strangling her while he used his other hand to cover her mouth.
The ‘Home Alone’ actor who played brother Buzz McCallister in the popular movie franchise has been accused of trying to strangle his girlfriend during an argument at an Oklahoma City hotel.
Ratray was arrested Wednesday on one count of domestic assault and battery by strangulation and another count of domestic assault and battery after the alleged incident occurred earlier this month, Fox News reports.
A spokesperson for the Oklahoma City Police Department confirmed to the outlet that Ratray, 44, had “turned himself in” on Wednesday and had already been released on bond.
Ratray and his girlfriend had traveled to Oklahoma City for a Christmas convention being held there from Dec. 4-5, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by KFOR.
A few days later, his girlfriend told police that the couple had gone to dinner. He drank a bottle of wine and had more than 10 shots as the night continued, she said.
The couple began to argue, she said, after she had given two autograph cards to several of his fans at a bar without requiring them to pay for the autographs, according to the affidavit.
Their fight allegedly continued in the couple’s Hyatt hotel room.
She told police Ratray allegedly threw her on the bed and started strangling her while putting his other hand over her mouth.
"This is how you die," he said as he strangled her, according to the affidavit.
The woman said she bit her boyfriend’s hand and he punched her in the face.
She rolled off the bed and was able to run out of the room and went to a stairwell.
The woman said the violence continued when she decided to go back into the hotel room to retrieve her stuff and Ratray allegedly pushed her into a desk, hurting her arm, according to the court documents.
Ratray’s representative previously confirmed to TMZ that the couple had gotten into a verbal argument, but denied any physical violence.
Earlier this month, Ratray — who portrayed Kevin McCallister’s older brother Buzz in both “Home Alone” and “Home Alone 2” — talked to People on the iconic franchise’s impact on popular culture, calling the film a “legacy” that has been passed down from one generation to the next.
“Parents are showing children, children are showing grandchildren something that I was a part of,” he said. “I don’t know what life has been like without ‘Home Alone,’ since I just turned 13. I’ve come to realize this movie, it’s bigger than me. It’s bigger than any actor’s ego. It has become part of indelible imprints in family — in their consciousness.”
At the time, Ratray, who reprised his role in the new Disney+ film “Home Sweet Home Alone,” said the original cast of the movie had been considering doing an online reunion.
“So who knows what’s going to happen in the future?” he said.
