Body Believed To Be Missing Texas Mom Reportedly Found In Car Trunk, While Her 3-Week Old Daughter Is Located Alive
Heidi Broussard disappeared in Austin with her infant daughter Margot after dropping her son off at school.
A body found Thursday night near Houston is believed to be that of a missing Austin mom who disappeared along with her 3-week old daughter; however, the infant was discovered alive, according to multiple reports.
Heidi Broussard’s mother Tammy Broussard told NBC News that police told her they believed that a body found in a car trunk in Jersey Village, Texas likely belonged to her daughter, although the woman’s identity still needed to be confirmed by the medical examiner.
Austin Police declined to confirm the report; however, local station KTRK is also reporting that police removed a body from a car outside a Jersey Village home that is believed to belong to Heidi Broussard, who has been missing for a week.
The Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office also confirmed that a body was discovered in the trunk of a car, according to KVUE.
At least one person is in custody, KTRK reports.
Heidi Broussard and her 3-week-old daughter Margot Carey disappeared on Dec. 12 after Broussard was last seen dropping her son off at school that morning.
Lt. Daniel Arizpe, a Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department public information officer, told NBC News that a 1-month-old baby had been found safe in a Jersey Village home Thursday night just before 11 p.m.
Arizpe declined to reveal the baby’s identity, however, Tammy Broussard said police told her that her granddaughter Margot had been found and was in good condition.
According to Arizpe, authorities received a call about the child from Child Protective Services.
The Texas Rangers, Department of Public Safety, FBI and Austin Police Department all searched the home in question throughout the night.
More details about the case are expected Friday.
