Gypsy Rose Blanchard Officially Files for Divorce from Husband Ryan Anderson
The recently released convict says she's going through a "personal transformation journey."
Gypsy Rose Blanchard is starting a new chapter in her life.
The 32-year-old has officially filed for divorce from husband Ryan Anderson, who she wed in a prison ceremony in July 2022, according to People. She filed the papers at the Lafourche Parish Courthouse in Thibodaux, Louisiana on Monday, April 9.
Blanchard announced her decision to split from Anderson, a Louisiana school teacher, in a private Facebook post from March 28.
"People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents home down the bayou. I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find… who I am," the post read, according to People.

The breakup took place months after Blanchard was released from the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri. She served eight years of a 10-year prison sentence for the murder of her mother Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard, who is believed to have had Munchhausen syndrome by proxy, now known as factitious disorder imposed on another, and subjected Blanchard to years of unnecessary medical tests and procedures.
Prior to her mother's murder, Blanchard developed a long-distance relationship with Nicholas Godejohn, whom she met online. In 2015, she arranged for Godejohn to travel from his home state of Wisconsin to visit her in Springfield, Missouri and ultimately began plotting Dee Dee's death. In June 2015, Godejohn repeatedly stabbed Dee Dee in her bed, killing her. He was found guilty of first-degree murder in 2018 and sentenced to life in prison.
Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2016. She was released on parole in December 2023.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard's Life After Prison
Since her release from prison and breakup with Anderson, Blanchard has been spotted with ex-fiancé Ken Urker, whom she broke up with in 2020. The duo even got matching tattoos of a Husky to symbolize their "strong bond," Blanchard's cousin, Bobby Pitre, told People.
Blanchard has additional plans to alter her appearance, with a rhinoplasty scheduled in the coming weeks. "I’m going through a personal transformation journey currently and that includes a physical one, too," she said in a statement to People.
Ryan Anderson Speaks Out
Meanwhile, Anderson is leaning on close friends as he navigates his separation from Blanchard. In a statement posted to TikTok, he shared that he is in good spirits and spent the weekend watching Wrestlemania.
"I just want to thank everyone for the support, it's been great. I'm just living my life, guys," he said in the video, adding, "Y'all will see what really happened."
For her part, Blanchard has not publicly addressed the breakup, having deleted her social media accounts on the advice of her parole officer.
