“We immediately ramped up campus security, requested extra resources and we will continue to take every step we can to provide for the safety of our people,” University Of Idaho President Scott Green said in a message addressing the quadruple homicide earlier this month.
“They’re kind of just telling me that they can’t tell me much, which is frustrating to me because I’ve been very trustworthy,” Steve Goncalves said of authorities’ efforts to solve the murder of his daughter Kaylee and three of her friends.
Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen, and Kaylee Goncalves' two roommates were the ones who called police when they couldn't wake their friends up, and aren't suspects in the deaths of the three young women and Ethan Chapin.
Latah County Coroner Cathy Mabbutt said Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin each suffered multiple stab wounds from a “pretty large knife.”
“At this point, the investigators are looking at all possibilities,” Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson said, as new details emerge about the deaths of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin.
Police on Wednesday said they have no suspects in the stabbing deaths of University of Idaho students Madison Mogan, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin.
Police now say that the four University of Idaho students – Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen, and Kaylee Goncalves – were all killed with "an edged weapon such as a knife," and that their deaths were targeted.
