Bryan Kohberger was booked into the Latah County Jail in Moscow, Idaho at 6:44 p.m. Wednesday after waiving extradition from Pennsylvania, where he was arrested last week.
Law enforcement authorities chose to force their way into the home of Bryan Kohberger's parents in the early morning hours Friday after determining it "would be the safest for everybody" to enter under the cover of darkness.
Steve Goncalves, who became an outspoken advocate for justice for his daughter, gave a series of media interviews emphasizing how much more there is to learn following the arrest of Bryan Kohberger.
"We have fully cooperated with law enforcement agencies in an attempt to seek the truth and promote his presumption of innocence rather than judge unknown facts and make erroneous assumptions,” the family of suspect Bryan Kohberger said in a statement.
Bryan Kohberger's attorney says the suspect told investigators he was certainly "aware" of the murders after being taken into custody Friday, before invoking his right to an attorney.
Bryan Kohberger was arrested in Pennsylvania on Friday morning and is being held on charges that he murdered University of Idaho students Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves and Ethan Chapin in November.
“At the very least, we hope to create some good out of such a terrible and heartbreaking situation,” Xana Kernodle's cousin said when announcing the scholarship for University of Idaho students Thursday.
