Couple Accused Of Kidnapping, Torturing, And Sexually Assaulting Woman Over 'Horrific' Weekend
Alexis Crawford and Christian White have been accused of burning, cutting, and sexually abusing a friend of a woman they'd been staying with in Levy County, Florida.
A Florida couple was arrested this week for allegedly kidnapping a woman they met through a mutual friend and torturing her over the weekend.
Alexis Crawford, 20, and Christian White, 30, were arrested on Monday and face numerous charges, including kidnapping and sexual assault, online jail records show.
Crawford and White are alleged to have held a woman against her will for more than 24 hours, during which time they assaulted and sexually abused her, the Levy County Sheriff's Office said in a press release this week. The couple's arrest came after the victim, who managed to escape on Sunday, called 911 the following day and reported what had happened, which authorities described as "horrific."
The unnamed woman told authorities that she first met Crawford and White through a mutual friend, with whom the couple were staying, on Saturday, according to the release. That night, the victim offered to go out and buy dinner for everyone, but when she returned to the home, she and Crawford got into a fight. Crawford tried to tie the victim up with zip ties, and when she was initially unsuccessful, White began helping, and they were able to restrain the woman's arms and legs using zip ties, authorities allege.
Crawford and White then allegedly began torturing the victim, burning, cutting, and punching her, as well as drugging and sexually battering her, authorities said. The abuse ended when the woman was able to escape the house on Sunday and then call 911. Responding law enforcement reported that the victim had cuts and burns on her body that supported her claims, the release states. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Crawford and White's charges include aggravated battery, false imprisonment of an adult, and sexual assault, online jail records show. Both remain in custody at the Levy County Detention Facility, where their bonds have been set at $3.2 million each.
