‘My Sister Is Innocent:’ Family Of Michelle Troconis Speaks Out In Jennifer Dulos Case
Michelle Troconis has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the 2019 disappearance and presumed death of Jennifer Dulos.
The family of Michelle Troconis — the former girlfriend of Fotis Dulos and alleged co-conspirator in the presumed murder of his estranged wife Jennifer Dulos — is speaking out, maintaining that she is innocent.
Jennifer vanished in May 2019 amid a contentious divorce and child custody battle with Fotis. Fotis was brought up on murder charges before he died by suicide in January 2020. While investigators believe he killed his former wife, they don't think he acted alone. Both Troconis and Fotis’ former civil lawyer Kent Douglas Mawhinney have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the case. Fotis and Troconis were allegedly caught on video together disposing of evidence — including zip ties that police believe were used to incapacitate Jennifer before she was killed — into trash cans around Hartford.
Troconis has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, evidence tampering and hindering prosecution. She has been on house arrest as she awaits trial.
While Troconis has remained mostly silent about the case, she spoke out in May, stating, in part: “I know nothing about Jennifer Dulos' whereabouts or what may have happened to her. I know that under American law, I don't have to prove my innocence, but actually, to me it feels that way during all this time of public scrutiny.”
Now, her family is breaking their silence in a new interview with CBS’s “48 Hours," which airs Saturday night.
“My sister is innocent,” her sister Daniela Troconis said in a preview of the episode.
Claudia Troconis, another sister, claimed the allegations are not in Michelle's nature.
She declares that Michelle would "never would be capable of anything they’ve said that she has done.”
The episode also promises to unveil new information from the investigation, including footage of police interrogations of Troconis.
“I have no idea what happened to Jennifer. I have no idea where Jennifer is,” Troconis pleads in one excerpt.
In her 2017 divorce filing against her husband of 13 years, Jennifer stated Fotis and Troconis began having an affair in 2016. Jennifer said she moved out after finding out about the affair and claimed in court filings that Troconis' presence was emotionally damaging to the couple's five children.
