Florida Woman Charged With Stabbing Roommate Allegedly Told Authorities She'd Been 'Thinking About Killing Him For A While'
Florida authorities allege that Erica Raven Black, charged with stabbing her roommate Lindin Siri, admitted she just "snapped."
A Florida woman accused of stabbing her roommate with two knives allegedly told police that she was “thinking of killing him for a while,” and does not know why she “snapped.”
Erica Raven Black, 32, was arrested Friday and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. She is being held at the Brevard County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
On July 27, Brevard County Sheriff Deputies responded to a call about a stabbing in Merritt Island. Lindin Siri called 911 and said a woman had stabbed him twice and was still in the apartment, according to an affidavit for an arrest warrant obtained by Law & Crime.
Once deputies arrived on the scene, they separated Siri and the woman, later identified as Erica Raven Black. Siri was transported to the hospital for treatment for “three sharp force injuries.” Black was taken to another hospital after complaining of “pain to her neck area.”
Deputies found “two kitchen knives covered in blood, blood on the ground in the residence, and blood on the front porch.”
A deputy spoke to Black at the hospital and noted she had dried blood on her body and a small bruise above her left eye and a laceration on her right hand.
Black accused Siri of punching and choking her. She alleged he “tried to rape her,” and she stabbed him in the back, according to the affidavit. Black said it was “self-defense.”
She said she “freaked out” because Siri had never “laid hands on her before.”
Black told the deputy that incident had been captured on camera in the kitchen and Siri could gain access to it with his phone.
“The video provided by Lindin Siri shows Lindin Siri walking into the living room, and Ms. Black is lying on the couch. Lindin Siri lifts the couch, and Ms. Black falls to the ground and appears to be sleeping. Lindin Siri then proceeds to clean up and vacuum under the couch as Ms. Black lays on the ground with a small dog,” the affidavit states. “Several minutes later, Ms. Black gets off the ground and walks to the kitchen out of view of the camera. Lindin Siri is in view of the camera the entire time. As Lindin Siri has his back turned to the kitchen cleaning, Ms. Black is observed coming out armed with two knives, and then stabs Lindin Siri in the back. The two engage in a struggle over the knives, and Lindin Siri was able to unarm Ms. Black and called 911.”
Authorities said the video did not support her version of events, according to the affidavit.
Siri said in a sworn statement that before leaving for Orlando on July 26, he asked Black, who he described as “drinking” and “intoxicated” to go to her room and not be a “couch potato.” When he returned home Black was “intoxicated” on the couch. “At that time, he lifted the couch and she fell to the ground and continued to sleep. No words were exchanged. Several minutes later when Ms. Black woke up, she went into the kitchen, came out while Lindin Siri had his back turned and stabbed him without warning.”
During Black’s interview she said: “I’ve been thinking about killing him for a while, and tonight I just snapped. I don’t know why,” according to the affidavit.
She also told the deputy “that she had been raped before in the past and decided she won't let anybody treat her like that ever again and that she would “kill them” before they hurt her.”
