Cause Of Death Released For Model and Architect Friend, Whose Bodies Were Dumped Near LA-Area Hospitals
Christy Giles had GHB, commonly used as a date rape drug, in her system when she died, authorities said.
A coroner’s report has revealed that both a model and her architect friend, whose bodies were dumped outside separate hospitals in the Los Angeles area in November, were murdered.
Christy Giles, 24, and Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, 26, both died of “multiple drug intoxication,” the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner state on their website. They have ruled both of their deaths homicides.
Giles, a model, had a fatal mix of drugs in her system when she died, including cocaine, fentanyl and ketamine. But most disturbingly, she had gamma-hydroxybutyrate acid, or GHB, in her system; GHB is often used as a date rape drug.
Cabrales-Arzola, who died of multiple organ failures in addition to drug intoxication, also had several drugs, some of which haven't been determined, in her system.
Giles' body had been left outside a hospital by masked men in Culver City on Nov. 13. That same night, Cabrales-Arzola was also dumped, unconscious but still alive, outside Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles hospital. However, she was later declared brain dead and two weeks later, her family took her off life support.
The two friends had reportedly gone to a warehouse party where a man invited them to an after-party in the Hollywood Hills. It was there where investigators believe that the women were possibly drugged.
In December, three men were arrested in connection with their deaths. David Pearce, 37, was arrested for manslaughter while Michael Ansbach, 47, and Brandt Osborn, 42, were both arrested for accessory to manslaughter.
Pearce was also charged shortly after with sexually assaulting four women between 2010 and 2020. Pearce’s attorney Jacob Glucksman argued in January, as he tried to lower Pearce's bail, that prosecutors “dusted off” old rape allegations to keep him behind bars.
