'He Won’t Be Bothering You Anymore': Florida Man Allegedly Gunned Down Girlfriend’s Dad
Charles Shadrach, 29, allegedly told his girlfriend that her 67-year father wouldn’t be “bothering” her anymore after fatally shooting the elderly man in Bradenton, Florida.
A Florida man allegedly fatally shot his girlfriend’s father following a dispute over the weekend, according to authorities.
Charles Shadrach, 29, was taken into police custody on Saturday in the shooting death of the 67-year-old man, who hasn’t been identified, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a property in Bradenton, Florida — about 40 miles south of Tampa — at approximately 2:25 p.m. on July 23 after reports of gunfire, Tampa Bay television station WTVT reported. Upon arrival, authorities found a 67-year-old victim with gunshot wounds in the front yard of the home. The man was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s spouse and daughter told investigators that they’d been inside the residence when gunfire erupted from near the driveway, outside the home. The mother and daughter later said they observed the shooting victim lying face down in the yard. The two women also witnessed Shadrach, the younger woman's live-in boyfriend, holding a gun.
They told detectives that Shadrach set down his gun by the home’s door and told his girlfriend, “He won’t be bothering you anymore,” per WTVT.
Shadrach walked a short distance and then ultimately surrendered himself to a deputy who had been dispatched for the incident. He was unarmed at the time of his arrest.
The 29-year-old was charged with premeditated murder, according to online jail records obtained by Oxygen.com.
Officials haven’t released a specific motive in the elderly man’s suspected killing. However, according to detectives, several domestic arguments had previously occurred between the 67-year-old victim, his daughter and Shadrach prior to the killing. They all lived together, according to WWSB.
No other information was immediately released by investigators this week. A spokesperson for the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office didn’t immediately respond to Oxygen.com’s request for comment on the open case on Monday morning.
Shadrach is being held without bond at a Manatee County detention facility. No court information was immediately available for him. It’s unclear if he’s retained legal representation to comment on his behalf.
