Rapper And 'Love And Hip Hop' Star Baby Blue Shot In Attempted Robbery In Florida
The rapper, Baby Blue, whose real name is Diamond Smith, is in critical condition after being shot in the parking lot of a bowling alley in Davie, Florida.
Rapper Baby Blue, who appeared on the VH1 reality show “Love and Hip Hop: Miami,” is in critical condition in a South Florida hospital after being shot in an attempted robbery outside a bowling alley this week, police said.
Baby Blue, whose real name is Diamond Smith, was standing with another man SPAREZ bowling alley parking lot in Davie, Florida when police say they were approached by two men wearing face masks and hoodies on Monday. Police said that the masked men attempted to steal Smith's gold chain necklace ensued, a struggle ensued, and Smith, 36, was shot near the shoulder.
“Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I’m still in ICU but I’m on the road to recovery. The bullet traveled through my lounges [sic] is in stuck in my back. I have to learn to breathe & walk again. I have a great medical team here at the hospital. God Got Me,” Baby Blue tweeted on Thursday morning.
A graphic video posted to the Hollywood Unlocked Instagram account shows a man lying on the floor of the entrance to the bowling alley as another man screams for help and a crowd gathers; signage for SPAREZ can be seen in the footage.
“Let’s continue to pray for #PrettyRicky’s #BabyBlueWhoaaaa who is currently fighting for his life after being shot in Florida,” the caption on the post reads.

Baby Blue was an original member of the hip-hop group Pretty Ricky. He released the single, "Jerry Rice," this week. Along with his Pretty Ricky group mates Spectacular and Slick 'Em, he appeared on season 1 of “Love & Hip Hop: Miami.” Pretty Ricky found success in 2005 and 2006 with their hit platinum singles "Grind With Me" and "On The Hotline."
