Man Allegedly Stabs To Death Coworker Who Wouldn't Date Him Before Stabbing Self
Agustin Lucas Mariani is said to have waited outside of Delfina Pan’s apartment for her to come home before stabbing her.
A Florida man is accused of stabbing a coworker he was obsessed with to death, shortly before stabbing himself.
Agustin Lucas Mariani, 20, is accused of waiting outside of 29-year-old Delfina Pan’s apartment in Miami Beach on the evening of Nov. 29, Miami’s WPLG reports. After he spotted Pan — who was chatting with a neighbor at the time — he emerged with a long kitchen knife and stabbed her to death. After that, he allegedly took off his shirt and turned the knife on himself.
When police arrived at the scene, Mariani was reportedly lying on top of a dying Pan, NBC Miami reports; both had suffered stab wounds but only Pan’s were fatal. She was pronounced dead by the time she got to a hospital.
Footage of Mariani being taken away in a stretcher was obtained by WPLG. He was treated at a nearby hospital.
Mariani faces a charge of second-degree murder. Police had initially suggested that the incident was “domestic related.”
The Miami Beach Police Department did not immediately respond to Oxygen.com’s request for comment.
The kitchen knife found at the crime scene was allegedly taken from Kansas Bar & Grill Restaurant in South Beach, where both Pan and Mariani worked together. It was there that Mariani allegedly became obsessed with Pan — and he allegedly killed her because she didn’t want to date him, the Miami Herald reports.
Pan left work early the day she died, before Mariani also prematurely abandoned his shift.
Pan, who moved to the United States two years ago from Buenos Aires, Argentina, had dreams of becoming a fashion designer, her friends told NBC Miami. She graduated from the University of Buenos Aires in 2016 and worked as a graphic designer in Argentina before she moved to Miami to live with a friend. On her private Instagram, she cited photography as a main interest.
It’s not clear if Mariani has a lawyer.
