Terry Rose, 67, the ex-boyfriend of missing woman Kimberly Langwell, was taken into custody by police Thursday evening, Assistant Chief of Police Jason Plunkett confirmed in a Friday press conference. He is being held on $1 million bond.

The arrest comes just days after the Beaumont Police Department, with the assistance of multiple law enforcement agencies, executed a search warrant at Rose's Beaumont home. In the process, they discovered human remains, Plunkett shared.

"The identity of the remains are being confirmed at this time, however, we believe they are the remains of Kimberly Langwell," he added.

"Ladies and gentlemen, you are witnessing something that rarely ever happens. This is an extraordinary case, 25-years cold case homicide, and the body was not found till yesterday — that's amazing," Police Chief James Singletary said.

Cold Justice's Kelly Siegler and Abbey Abbondandolo previously assisted in the investigation back in November 2023, speaking with Rose and more in the hopes of finding more information about the mysterious case.

What happened to Kimberly Langwell?

Langwell went missing on the evening of July 9, 1999. That night, she told her daughter, Tiffani, that she was going to stop by Rose's home after work around 5:30 but expected to be back in time to have dinner with the then-15-year-old, as well as her new boyfriend, Ken Weatherford.

When Langwell failed to appear for dinner that night, people searched for her, eventually finding Langwell's car abandoned in a parking lot. Inside the car were her purse and keys.

The fact that she left her purse and keys made it seem unlikely that Langwell would have run away. Plus, as Kelly Siegler pointed out, "she was excited about the next chapter of her life.”

When the Cold Justice team spoke to Rose, he denied involvement in her disappearance and refuted that he was a jealous boyfriend, as Langwell's friends and family had claimed.

"Once we broke it off, I figured just leave her alone," he said.

Where is Terry Rose now?

Rose is currently being held in custody on $1 million bail. If he is able to post bond, he will be required to wear a GPS monitoring anklet and is forbidden from leaving Jefferson County, 12 News Now reports.
