Alaskan Cruise Ship Passengers Describe Heartbreaking Moment Teen Daughter Found Out Dad Murdered Mom
"I want my mommy. I want my mommy."
Passengers aboard the Princess Cruises ship on which a Utah husband allegedly murdered his wife during their 18th wedding anniversary recounted the moment when the couple’s 13-year-old daughter found out what happened.
The couple, Kristy and Kenneth Manzanares, both 39, traveled with their three daughters and other family members on the Alaskan cruise. Their children ranged in age from 13 to 22. Kenneth allegedly killed his wife in their cabin.
Passenger Chris Ceman told Inside Edition, “One of the little girls from that room came running out calling for help that her parents had been in a fight. She sounded pretty desperate.”
Passenger Natalie Beckstrom told the St. George News that she saw the couple’s 13-year-old daughter “standing there wrapped in a blanket, just sobbing.”
“And, right then, a man came out from the hallway where the room is that they were staying in. He had on jeans and a white tank top and he was covered in blood from like the waist down, and he said to the woman holding the little girl, ‘It doesn’t look good.’ And so, at that point, the 13-year-old just lost it – she just started sobbing, ‘I want my mommy. I want my mommy,’” Beckman said.
Passenger Jen Larson, recalled to ABC News that she saw the young girl screaming. “She said, ‘I just want to go and see my mom! I just want to see my mom! What’s happening?’”
Vic Simpson, another passenger, told Inside Edition that he thought the chaos was part of the “Murder Mystery” night that the cruise was putting on. “Because they were doing a murder mystery theater about a death on a cruise ship most people thought it was just part of the dramatic effect of what they were doing.”
Kenneth allegedly told passengers after killing his wife that she "wouldn’t stop laughing at" him. He then, according to witnesses, tried to jump into the ocean.
A GoFundMe page has been started to help the family with the funeral expenses.
