“If I had done something like this it would mean that I had stuck my fist in the pain of Black Americans in this country for over 400 years," Jussie Smollett said in a new interview. "It would mean that I stuck my fist in the fears of the LGBTQ community all over the world."

A judge will also have to weigh in potential risks of COVID-19 to the actor's compromised immunity when deciding whether or not Jussie Smollett can be released from the county jail.

The former "Empire" star was convicted in December of five felony counts of disorderly conduct related to a false report he filed about a supposed hate crime in 2019.
