ABOUT THE SHOW
What was the best Ms. J moment from your season?
The best Ms. J moment was one the that the cameras didn't catch. At the salon after our makeover photo shoot, we had to wait for a few hours for production to wrap before we could leave and Ms. J decided to hang out with all of us instead of leaving. We chatted for a long time because he wanted to be there with us, not just for the sake of the cameras. I knew he was a genuine person who cared about all of us at that point.
What was your favorite shoot from your season? My favorite was the 1-800-FLOWERS shoot. It was a beautiful location and we didn't have to wear tons of crazy make-up. I felt the most beautiful at that shoot than any of the others.
What's up with the Tyra mail? Tyra mail drove me nuts because you could never figure them out. When we would get one, that was all we would talk about. I would rather not know a thing than try to decipher every word written on them. So frustrating!!
Who was your closest friend in the model house? Are you friends with any of the girls now? My closest friend in the house was Kahlen, but I was also very close to Lluvy. It was nice to have people who you could lean on when you had a bad day. They are both great girls and we all had each others back.
Do you still keep in touch with Tyra or the judges? Nole was a big help in New York after the show ended to set up appointments with major agencies. He gave me great advice in which agency to sign with.
Who didn't you get along with? Tiffany and I may have had a rocky start just because we came from two totally different worlds, but we ended up having a great time together. There was no one that I had any real problems with.
Who's your favorite Top Model winner? I would have to say Naima because I know her the best. I met Caridee at an audition and think she is a sweet girl. There is something about a fellow midwesterner that I can appreciate!
What was the hardest part of doing the show for you? The hardest part of doing the show was the complete lack of privacy. I need a certain amount of alone time, and that doesn't happen with a camera in your face from the second you wake up to the minute you go to bed.
Would you do it again? Why/why not? I would absolutely do the show again. I don't know where I would be today without having done it and can attribute my success of modeling to the show.
Looking back at your time on the show, what do you wish you would've done differently? I don't want to look back and wish I had done anything differently.
How did the show change your life? By doing the show, it enabled me to get to New York and meet with different agencies. It was up to me after that though. People would often, and still do, recognize me and ask for photos and autographs.
Tell me about Tyra What's she like in person? I didn't get to know Tyra as much as I would have liked to, but after I collapsed during judging, I couldn't move off of the floor for a short while. She came and laid down next to me, talking and wiping my tears until the ambulance came. I was grateful that she made me feel more relaxed in one of the most stressful and craziest times in my life.
MODELING
What's the most exotic location you've had to travel to for a photo shoot?
It's not exotic at all, but I went to Connecticut for a Tommy Hilfiger photo shoot.
What's your favorite place to visit? My favorite place to visit is New York City. I lived in New York for 2 years to model and have since moved back to Minnesota to have a family. I am city girl at heart and love coming back to New York as often as I can.
What was your most challenging photo shoot? The most challenging photo shoot was the Got Milk shoot.Trying to hold a 30 pound child with one arm while we were both wearing satin dresses took more arm strength than I had. The long black wig didn't help matters either. Somehow it all came together.
If you weren't a model, what would you like to do? My biggest goal in life was to be a mom and now my dream has come true. I have an 11 month old baby boy who makes life worth living. Modeling was always a career goal, but he has made my dreams come true.
Any tips for posing for photos? The best thing you can do in a photo is to pull your head up high and stick out your chin. It feels funny but will always look good in a photo.
BEAUTY
What's your can't live without beauty product?
I can't live without mascara. It opens and brightens your eyes and only takes a second to apply.
What's your daily beauty routine? Living in cold weather, the most important thing is moisturizing your skin.
FASHION
How would you describe your sense of style?
My sense of style is laid back casual. I would wear jeans and a t-shirt everyday if I cold.
FITNESS
Can you give us some examples of what you usually eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?
For breakfast I usually eat toast or cereal, lunch is a frozen lean cuisine for convenience and dinner usually involves grilling out with vegetables.
How do you stay in shape? Just keeping up with my child is workout in itself, but when it is too cold to go for a walk outside, I go inside to the mall to walk. It is me with a lot of older people cruising around before the stores actually open.
Is there a part of your body that you feel insecure about? If so, why? Since the birth of my son, I am just not as tight as I used to be. It makes me a little insecure, but it was well worth it.
MISC
Who's your number 1 celebrity crush?
I have always had a crush on Johnny Depp. Jason Lewis from Sex and the City isn't bad either.
What are three things you're obsessed with right now? Three things I'm obsessed with are Diet Coke, Flight of the Conchords and taking photos of my family.
Can you finish this sentence? "I'm sexy because" I'm confident.
What makes a man/woman sexy? Confidence and a sense of humor are sexy in a man. I've always loved big strong hands too.
What's playing in your iPod right now? I've been listening to everything from Led Zeppelin to Moby, Incubus to the Beastie Boys. It all depends on my mood.
PERSONAL
What were you like as a child/teenager?
I have an older brother close in age so everyday we would play basketball or football with the neighbor boys. I guess you could say I was a tomboy. I got good grades and didn't get into too much trouble. I was a pretty typical kid in the midwest.
Were you ever teased about your looks? If yes, what do you want to say to the people who used to tease you? I was teased for always being the tallest girl in school. I was also teased for having a small chest. Both things have turned into a positive for modeling, so I embrace them now.
What's the strangest rumor you've ever heard about yourself? When I fainted at the judging panel, I read all over the internet that it happened because I was anorexic. That couldn't be further from the truth and it hurt to see that people thought that.
If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be? I always wanted thick hair. My hair is so fine that I can't wear it longer than my shoulders without extensions to look good.
What's your personal motto? Live in the moment and try to enjoy everyday. Life goes by too fast to dwell on the past or to plan your every move.
