Teen Who Posted Facebook Message About Being Stalked Found Dead
"He drove across country to see me ... slept behind my work for weeks.”
The body of 19-year-old Natalie Bollinger has been discovered in a remote area of Denver, Colorado. Bollinger had taken legal action against an alleged stalker shortly before going missing last Thursday afternoon.
According to People, Bollinger was last seen exiting her family's home. She was officially reported missing on Thursday. Her body was discovered by a passerby in Adams County. Police officially confirmed the Bollinger's death on Tuesday, noting that the situation is under investigation.
Bollinger's last Facebook post before she died warned of an acquaintance who had become hostile:
“Hey y’all, I have a public announcement… there is a man Shawn Schwartz. I met this man when I was young. I ran into him about 2 years ago,” Bollinger posted to social media on Dec. 13. “Long story short, I became friends w him. I helped him out w rides and stuff. I moved to [Virginia]. He drove across country to see me.. slept behind my work for weeks.”
“He’s sent emails for over a year close to everyday, harassing me. Making numerous account until I block him again. Threatening my family, telling me he’ll kill himself in front of me, and sending my friends and family harassing messages as well,” she further alleged.
A police spokesperson confirmed that Bollinger had filed an order of protection against Schwartz shortly before her disappearance. On Dec. 22, the order was granted by an Adams County judge. Police say they've since spoken with Schwartz about the death; whether he is considered a suspect in the case remains unclear.
“We have talked to him, and again not ready to call anyone a suspect. But it is certainly a piece of our investigation, a piece of our timeline,” Adams County Sheriff Michael McIntosh stated, according to Heavy. No suspects have been named as of yet.
Schwartz has since taken to social media himself in order to state his lack of involvement in the situation:
Schwartz has claimed he is “still trying to stay out of the way and let the cops do their jobs.” He has since refused to respond to requests for comments.
