CAPTURED UNSOLVED 106
AGNES ZIEMLEWSKI, 26
26-year-old Agnes Ziemlewski emigrated to the U.S. from Poland with her family when she was 12 years old. She was the family's oldest child, and struggled to adapt to life in a brand new country. She graduated from the University of Connecticut and was working for United Healthcare when she was killed. She frequently enjoyed going for a walk at the West Hartford, CT, reservoir. Agnes' body was found on a walking trail at the reservoir on September 24, 1998. She had been shot to death.
CASE NOTES
Police say Agnes' murder was not a random act; she was shot by someone she knew.
According to authorities, Agnes was not assaulted prior to the shooting; they say she suffered no injuries other than the gunshot wound.
Police say no other serious crimes had been reported at the reservoir in the decades leading up to Agnes' murder.
The reservoir area is a popular place for walkers, bikers and families, so police are hoping someone saw or heard something that day and will come forward with information.
The state of Connecticut is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
