Gypsy Rose Blanchard Says New Memoir My Time to Stand Is About "Reclaming My Footing"

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is sharing harrowing details of her life “she previously kept private” in a new book coming out in January 2025.
Blanchard, 32, who was convicted in the murder of her mother, co-authored the memoir My Time to Stand with Melissa Moore and Michele Mastrisciani.
“I hope to engage readers by describing my journey, instead of explaining it,” Blanchard told People. “In that way, others might see themselves in my story, too, and relate.”

Blanchard served eight years of a 10-year prison sentence for conspiring to kill her mother Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, who is believed to have had a condition formerly called Munchhausen syndrome by proxy, now called factious disorder imposed on another.
Blanchard plotted with online boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn to kill her mom. In June 2015, Godejohn fatally stabbed Dee Dee in her bed. He was convicted of first-degree murder in 2018 and sentenced to life in prison.
Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2016. She was released on parole in December 2023.
My Time to Stand will contain “family photos and new facts about Gypsy’s life that she previously kept private,” according to Amazon promotional materials for the January 28, 2025 release.
For Blanchard, who has filed for divorce from her schoolteacher husband Ryan Anderson, the new memoir is an opportunity to present herself as an open book.
The book will cover Blanchard’s cycle of abuse, fears of surgery leaving her disabled, guilt about her mother’s death, and memories of prison.
The book’s title refers to the fact that Blanchard was forced to use a wheelchair even though she could walk, People reported.
“The first time I stood up on my own two feet was my first failed attempt to leave my mother,” Blanchard said. “The second time I stood up, I walked down a path I’ll regret forever. Again, too many people feel this way about their choices.”
My Time to Stand, she added, “is about reclaiming my footing so others can be inspired to walk a life of purpose.”
